Confessions of Lady D. Sign : There are many types of Gowns in the market today, but not every style will suit you. It is also good to know your terminology when shopping for your wedding dress. As such, I will be starting a series of articles on Wedding Gowns in the hopes that you will be able to differentiate the different styles when shopping for your Wedding or Bridal Dress!
THE BALLGOWN : An everlasting image of romance, encapsulating the ultimate fairy tale of gowns. Think Cinderella, Elizabeth Taylor, Princess Diana and Grace Kelly. Ballgowns contain everything, from fitted bodice, voluminous skirts, petticoats, train and wedding veils in numerous layers after layers. They normally are found in one piece, but may come as a top and skirt. In line with the romanticized style, Ballgown skirts are large and flowing, normally sweeping the floor, with the high possibility of hoops or petticoats in accordance to the original Victorian style, which it is modeled after. Extremely Feminine and Elegant, Ballgowns may not be easy to carry, let alone comfy, with all that additional trimmings!
WILL IT SUIT ME? : Normally meant for tall, slim build ladies who tend to be broad shouldered. However, certain modifications can be made to accommodate ladies who are lacking of a broad shoulder and/or of medium height or with a pear shaped figure. Highly recommended for ladies who would love a long train for their wedding gowns.
